Nasseo, Inc. is a privately owned, medical device company that has developed a next generation platform surface technology. The Company was founded based on the intellectual property developed at the University of California San Diego. This unique and patented technology comprises a novel surface technology for tissue integration and is backed by more than 10 years of research focused on optimizing the material/tissue interface for dental and orthopedic applications.

The initial research and development of Nasseo’s ground-breaking surface technology started in 2004 and has resulted in numerous pre-clinical scientific publications detailing the benefits and optimization of the surface for tissue adhesion and anti-bacterial properties. Findings in top publications, such as PNAS and Biomaterials, outline the broad array of benefits of the surface technology.

Nasseo’s initial product offering, the TiArray™ Dental Implant System, has been intentionally designed for hard and soft tissue adhesion. The implant surface is micron smooth even though it significantly increases the surface area compared to traditionally grit-blasted or machined implants. The TiArray Dental Implant System has received FDA 510(k) clearance.

The Company’s overall strategy is the development and enhancement of additional medical devices based on its platform surface technology. Nasseo received a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Science Foundation to develop a novel surface technology for a spinal interbody device. Nasseo is conducting market research and initial product development activities regarding craniofacial plates, PEEK screws, bone-anchored hearing aids, and 3D printed implants.
